What’s it like when you first start a grooming business?

I remember when I started my first grooming business allllll the way back in the early 1990s.

It was a very exciting time, but it was also a very nervous time for me. Starting my first grooming business was probably similar to getting up on a stage and playing a song in front of an audience for the very first time.

Because back then, I didn’t have all of the resources that are now available to you.

Now things are much, much simpler. The grooming industry has evolved, and now becoming a groomer and opening a business involves much less guessing.

I’ve helped people become groomers and open many grooming businesses over the years, and I’ve seen these changes first-hand.

But even though you won’t have to guess your way through many of the steps like I did “back in the day”, there are still some very important challenges you will face and that you need to be aware of.

One of the things I notice most when talking to new grooming business owners is a sense of being overwhelmed.

Most of this comes from not having experience actually running a business.

Some of these owners have been groomers for many years, and some are new groomers who have decided to open their own business quickly.

Having a good understanding of the basics of owning and operating a business can go a long way, and can really help take some of the stress and weight off your shoulders, especially when you’re first getting started.

Unfortunately, some groomers don’t take the time to learn about business before they open their own grooming salon.

I want to make sure this doesn’t happen to you, which is one of the main reasons I put together the Get into Grooming package.

The main “problem” I see with many new owners is they don’t launch their new business properly.

This can lead to not having many customers for a while, and no customers coming through the door = no money being made.

This was a big problem 20 or 30 years ago, because we groomers didn’t have the Internet, Google, or other technology available today.

Still, this happens with many new grooming business owners even now because they don’t know how to properly launch and run their business.

You can avoid this by properly marketing your business before you open, but there’s a lot you need to know so that you can use marketing to make sure your business thrives as soon as you open.

Launching your business properly and using marketing effectively are the first steps to making excellent money as a grooming business owner.

Get into Grooming also includes Grooming Business Tips. This guide is stuffed with helpful info you need when becoming a groomer and opening your business.

My goal is to help you avoid a lot of the common mistakes that cause the most trouble for new groomers, especially when opening a grooming business.

If you plan and launch your grooming business correctly, you will have a solid, money-making business that you can count on.

Once you start building a solid base of customers and more and more dogs (and cats) are coming through your door, you will be on your way to success.

There are all different kinds of “success” when it comes to owning a business, but obviously making money is one of the top priorities.

It can take some effort to build your customers when first starting, but it’s well worth it, especially when the business starts picking up and you’re taking home $500 - $1,000 a day.
Did you know...?

It isn’t uncommon for successful groomers to make $100,000 + a year if they own a grooming business.

Most grooming businesses begin making money in as little as 1 to 3 months.

Everyone’s success can vary, of course, but making that kind of income is very achievable if you know how to launch and run your grooming business properly.

New Groomer

"I just started as a bather working in a grooming shop a few blocks from my apartment. I really like it so far, and I’m working with another groomer in the shop who is showing me the basics of how to groom dogs and cats. It’s been my dream to work with animals and I’m super excited about finally getting to do it."
